| Description | Children's literature, its story and translation are to this day of marginal interest among the theorists of literature and translation being considered an inferior literary genre. The problem of translation of the fairy tales is traditionally undervalued with the claim of their illusory international character and general comprehensibility. The present text aims to draw attention upon a scarcely discussed topic: the perception and translation of the fairy tale characters. They are an inseparable part of the so called classical fairy tales and constitute elements of cultural heritage both European and local. Due to the waste spectrum of connotations of some of them they can prove themselves to be problematic during translation. |
