| Description | The monograph deals with the topic of political and cultural history of Saudi Arabia - one of the most important countries of contemporary Near East. Because of the fact that the respective state covers the most of the Arab peninsula and the history of the region use to be rarely discussed within one historical survey, this book contains chapters of relevant periods of pre-Islamic history, as well as those concerning the birth of Islam and formative period of its civilization in Middle Ages. A core of the book consists in the era of the formation of the statehood of recent Saudi Arabia (up from the half of the 18th century) in the framework of the Wahhabi reformist doctrine. |
