Description | The study deals with an unknown gloriette in the Wide Forest (“Breiten Wald”) near Břeclav. We do not know the date of the beginning of construction or the architect. Nevertheless, it is possible that the building was built in the area of the feudal period, most likely at the end of 18th century, during the reign of Prince Alois I. Joseph of Liechtenstein. At that time, identical types of buildings appeared on the princely estates. Small repairs are evidenced in 1813 but the year 1854 was a turning point for the history of the building. The former rest and scenic “lusthaus” became a ground floor building for practical purposes, according to the plans by the princely architect Joseph Poppelack. The building remained in this form until 2016 when the whole building was reconstructed. Attention was also paid to the keeper´s house, no longer existent today. |
