Description This paper focused on the use of reading workshops as a tool for literature education in lower secondary schools. Reading workshops represented an effective model that combined an interactive and participatory approach to literary education, addressing the growing need to develop reading literacy and critical thinking among students. The paper presented the basic principles and procedures of reading workshops, including activities that supported active reading, discussion, and reflection. The analysis focused on how reading workshops contributed to the development of critical thinking and introduced specific techniques and strategies that supported text analysis, interpretation, and argumentation. The paper also discussed changes in the Framework Educational Program (RVP) and how contemporary education required a communicative approach to literary education. Examples of successful projects and activities were presented to demonstrate how these workshops led to increased reading literacy and motivation to read. The challenges and obstacles in implementing reading workshops, including methodological, organizational, and material aspects, were also discussed. Finally, practical recommendations were provided for teachers on how to effectively integrate reading workshops into literature education and how to use them to develop critical thinking and reading literacy.
