Spring is the perfect time to meet

Dear colleagues,

The spring semester is slowly tipping into its second half, which always brings with it an increase in social life and informal gatherings, among other things, in the expanse of the blossoming faculty courtyard. To make the opportunities for gathering even more plentiful, we have two invitations for you.

The Scientific Board is often considered one of the most important collective bodies operating in the Faculty of Arts  MU – habilitation or professorial appointment proceedings take place before it, and members of the Scientific Board approve virtually all faculty actions related to the area of scientific qualifications and accreditation of degree programs. The ongoing lecture series, Artes liberales Brunenses, of its honorary and external members, should serve to introduce the Scientific Council more closely. The meetings will be held on the morning before each council meeting, and the first speaker will be classical philologist Professor Jana Nechutová, whose lecture on 6 April will focus on Hussite issues. The art historian Andrzej Kozieł and the lawyer and political scientist Vojtěch Šimíček will demonstrate that this series is really about methodological lectures with an interdisciplinary perspective later this semester.

The second meeting opportunity to which we would like to invite you is Teacher's Week, set in the so-called Reading Week. Over the course of four days, you can attend one of sixteen seminars, workshops or lectures, which are organised into four thematic units - teaching for the 21st century, from the didactic workshop, teacher and self-care, and safety in the classroom. Among the lecturers, one can find university educators, teachers, methodologists, a health professional, a lawyer, a social anthropologist, the coordinator of the activity of the Reform of Undergraduate Teacher Training of the Ministry of Education and many others.

After the official part of the programme, you can follow up with an informal chat, perhaps just in the faculty courtyard.

We hope that you will choose from our offer.
