Dear colleagues,
Writing the editorial for the December newsletter is a sure sign that this year is slowly ending. Its beginning has been marked by the lingering shock and sadness of the tragic event at the Prague Faculty of Arts, which foreshadowed much of what we have been engaged in this year - setting a safer environment, nurturing the mental health of members of the academic community, and building a community that helps to overcome crises. I highlighted some of the university mechanisms at the launch of the Humanities Week Celebration. The victims of the tragic event at our sister college remain in our minds and will forever be remembered on December 21.
This year, however, there have also been several moments that can fill us with pride and joy in a job well done. These include, first and foremost, the excellent performances and achievements in the field of study, both from the perspective of teachers and learners, the outstanding achievements and awards of our researchers, the completed projects, some of which have been judged outstanding, new research initiated and the successes in competitions of various project schemes. All this is also a commitment to our future.
But for now, I wish you all a peaceful Advent and the joy and fulfilment of your work, for which my thanks are due.
Irena Radová Dean of Faculty of Arts MU
