We are opening the Faculty inspiratorium

Dear colleagues,
Let us begin today with a seemingly insignificant but true anecdote with almost fairy-tale-like features. Once upon a time, a young, promising scientist decided to earn her doctorate at a prestigious university abroad. She wasn't afraid of the many difficulties involved. She knew her reward would be a wealth of experience that nothing could surpass. She successfully conquered all the dragons in the form of examinations, wrote her dissertation and reached the final defence. When her foreign supervisor was about to choose a thesis opponent, he announced that the most excellent expert was based at Masaryk University - in the department where she had previously completed her master's studies. And what are the lessons of the story? Sometimes you have to travel halfway around the world to find a treasure waiting for you at home.
We believe that our Faculty holds many treasures - many inspiring people who can genuinely enrich others. We would therefore like to create opportunities for us to meet each other. The Faculty inspiratorium will pursue this very goal - an event consisting of presentations and discussions with the promoters of remarkable projects. These gatherings will take place on the second Friday morning of each month. They will gradually, in a not too formal way, introduce researchers from all the areas of education we care about at the Faculty. The first meeting will take place on March 10 and be opened by Pavel Caha from the Department of Czech Language.
The second opportunity for meeting, sharing and discussion will be offered by Teacher's Week, which this time will take place in its traditional spring term. Seminars, workshops and lectures will take place during the reading week, 17-20 April, which opens up space for various extraordinary events and activities. A detailed programme will be given in the following newsletter.
We are looking forward to seeing you in an inspiring way.
Irena Radová and Zuzana Šalamounová
