The conference venue is at The Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. The address of the building is Arna Nováka 1, right in the center of Brno.

Travel

The most convenient airports are Vienna and Prague, some airlines fly directly to Brno.

Traveling from Vienna or Prague

There is a regular train service operating between Vienna and Brno with departures approximately every hour or every second hour. There is also a regular bus service provided by, for instance, Student Agency (RegioJet) or FlixBus.

There are direct trains between Prague and Brno with departures twice in an hour. We recommend taking an EC train, which is the fastest one.  You can also go by bus. The connection is operated by companies such as Student Agency (Regiojet), FlixBus and others.

Traveling from Brno airport

There is a direct bus E76 from Brno airport to the center (Hlavní nádraží = Main train station). The trip will take cca 17 minutes. At the main train station, you need to change to the tram no. 12 (direction Technologický park). The journey takes about 7 minutes. The stop to get off at is called Grohova. From the main train station, you can also take no. 4 (direction Úvoz). The journey takes about 7 minutes. The stop to get off at is called Obilní trh. Both options bring you close to the faculty. For the whole trip from the airport to the conference venue, you need a 60-minute ticket for 25 CZK, which you can buy in yellow ticket machines at bus/tram stops. The ticket machines accept cash (coins). Tickets are also sold at news stands. Alternatively, you can also buy a ticket from the driver (for 35 CZK), in which case we recommend that you prepare the exact amount. Don't forget to validate the ticket when you get on the bus/tram.

Traveling from Dolní nádraží in Brno

If you’re arriving to Brno on a train, you will start your route in Brno at Dolní nádraží. This is a temporary station, currently used as the main train hub due to the reconstruction of the main train station. From Dolní nádraží, you first need to take the bus no. 61 in the direction Hlavní nádraží (the main train station). The trip takes approximately 5 minutes. At the main train station (Hlavní nádraží), you need to change to the tram no. 12 (direction Technologický park). The journey by no. 12 takes about 7 minutes. The stop to get off at is called Grohova. From the main train station, you can also take no. 4 (direction Úvoz). The journey takes about 7 minutes, the stop to get off at is called Obilní trh. Traveling from Hlavní nádraží in Brno

From Hlavní nádraží, take the tram no. 12 (direction Technologický park). The journey takes about 7 minutes, and you get off at Grohova. An alternative is to take no. 4 from the main station (direction Úvoz). The journey takes about 7 minutes, you get off at Obilní trh. Both options take you close to the faculty. For the whole trip from Dolní nádraží to the faculty, you need a 15-minute ticket for 20 CZK, which you can buy in yellow ticket machines at bus/tram stops. The ticket machines accept payments in cash (coins). Tickets are also sold at news stands. Alternatively, you can also buy a ticket from the driver, but we recommend having prepared an exact amount. Don't forget to validate the ticket when you get on the bus/tram.

Getting around by foot

If you prefer walking, the route from Dolní nádraží is cca 35–40 minutes, from Hlavní nádraží cca 20 minutes.

Each participant is responsible for the payment of the accommodation; the full price is to be paid upon arrival at the reception desk of the hotel (BLOCK A3), either in cash or by card. If you decide for the Hotel/Hostel Vinařská (i.e., the Accommodation and Catering Services of the MU), we highly recommend that you book your accommodation immediately after registration for the conference (the registration starts from June 1, 2019), as the capacity of the hotel/hostel might fill up rapidly.

We also got discounted price at the Continental Hotel www.continentalbrno.cz. The hotel is much closer to the Conference venue than the Vinařská Hotel/Hostel, a 5-minute walk. The discounted rate for guests of Masaryk University is 1350 CZK / person / night including breakfast; the hotel is highly rated (and recommended) by its guests. Note: please, do not book the hotel via internet (for instance, booking.com: the hotel then would have to charge you their full price, not the special discounted one for the participants of the conference).
