Popis | The study addresses the role of Juan de Borja, Spanish ambassador to the court of Emperor Rudolph II in the years 1577-1581, in the matter of the pacification of Flanders during negotiations in Cologne in 1579. In this period at the imperial court very important international issues are settled. Firstly there are efforts to pacify the region of the Netherlands, where religion played its very important role. Juan de Borja noticed the danger of religious disagreement, also in the Empire and the Habsburg monarchy as one of the real threats of disintegration of the Christian world. The study focuses on the issue in the context of the dynastic union of the House of Austria. Presents the tolerant Dutch policy of Rudolph II, the critical political situation at the time of the Archduke Matthias government in the Netherlands and the pacification unresolved Cologne International Board. |
