Popis One of the most interesting developments in the formation of Christian doctrine throughout the first few centuries of Common Era has been the engagement of newborn religion with Greek philosophical tradition. Using Socrates as a probe, the paper discuss various argumentative strategies employed by early Christian authors in order to achieve two largely divergent goals – to establish a unique identity on the one hand, to draw on the prestige of the Greek intellectual tradition on the other.
