Popis | This is a critical review of the first poetry collection of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian author Velida Zukan, which won the Mak Dizdar 2014 award, given by the organisation Slovo Gorčina in Stolac. Through a generous selection of lines, I analyse the form of the heptapartite collection and the manner in which the separate poems in it join to form a clear cycle of author's dealing with her own traumas and the past, as well as overcoming her current issues. Besides the personal, the review brings the said collection into connection with author's literary inheritance, the private canon of a poetess to whom books are not only a window into the world, but a shield too. |
