| Popis | In this talk, I will introduce the usefulness of parallel texts in Cognitive Linguistics research. Although parallel texts have been extensively used in the study of linguistic typology (which usually assumes a quantitative approach), there has not been a coherent body of literature in the study of language and thought. I will discuss how the methodology can reveal the usage of deictic verbs as viewpoint operators that other methods cannot as a case in point. I expect the talk to be of interest to scholars in linguistics, stylistics, and translation (of literature). |
