Popis Purine derivatives are important molecules in human metabolism. DNA is constantly attacked by many species forming different products such as oxidized forms. Methyl groups have been commonly observed in the case of DNA damage. The purine ring of adenine can be methylated at different positions. So far there have been only few studies of electrochemical behavior aimed at oxidation processes of N-methyladenines. We found out the possibility of measuring 3N-methyladenine (3N-mAde) on a pencil graphite electrode (PeGE) whose surface requires a surface pretreatment. The unique surface morphology of the PeGE, together with adsorption stripping, gives us the opportunity to study 3N-mAde signals. It is noteworthy that there were no 3N-mAde signals at a glassy carbon (GC) electrode at the same experimental conditions.
