Popis | In the talk, I look at a linear constraint on syncretism, the so-called Blansitt's Generalization. In previous work, I have shown that this generalisation follows if one adopts the so-called overlapping decomposition. In this follow up work, I argue that in addition, it is possible to use this constraint as an important testing ground for late-insertion theories and the associated insertion principles. In particular, I argue that the Subset Principle faces an empircal challenge that is very difficult to overcome. If, on the other hand, insertion is governed by the Superset Principle, the particular problem does not even arise. |
