Popis | The Final Eneolithic in the territory of South-Western Slovakia belongs to one of the most dynamic periods of the prehistoric development. In this area were distributed several archaeological cultures, including the Bell Beaker culture, which contributed to a complicated cultural-historical mosaic. In the presented study is summarized almost 85 years of archaeological research of this period with the focus on the reconstruction of the settlement network. The analysis of the settlement patterns, with the use of the geographical information systems and multivariate statistical methods, showed that settlement strategies of the Bell Beaker, Kosihy-Čaka-Makó and Somogyvár-Vinkovci cultures was quite similar which points out towards the same requirements for the environment. Very important catalyst of the social development was the metallurgy of the non-ferrous metals (especially copper). |
