Popis | This text examines the construction of social networks amongst Austrian Social Democrats and the socialist-oriented working class. The author considers the common features of the social networks amongst mass political parties and analyses the differences which characterise the Social Democratic movement. He defends the hypothesis that within their social networks, mass parties in general have a majority of features in common; for Social Democracy there are, naturally, specific factors regarding the transformation from an illegal party to a legal one (1889), as well as several internal disputes concerning the issue of national organisation, the rapid development of socialism and the changing generational experiences of its supporters, which together created the preconditions for the relatively strong generational cohesion. |
