Popis | University EAP courses are no longer restricted merely to teaching the four basic language skills, vocabulary and grammar. EAP teachers have included other, more integrated, competences in their courses, such as argumentation, critical thinking or various soft skills. Another essential skill, presenting, has not received much research attention, despite its wide use and practicality. Hence the aim of the paper is to show the development of an EAP course focused mainly on presentation skills designed for students of humanities. Th e course is competence- and task- based; due to its special character and for some other reasons that will be explained, students in this course are not assessed by traditional testing, but via portfolio assessment. Although the course design is still work in progress, the author intends to show the syllabus and how its students have or have not improved in giving presentations after attending the 13-week course. |
