Citace
Popis Without much hesitation, we can call the history of the XVI century in Russia a real dramatic performance. Our article is devoted to one of the most outstanding characters of this drama, Prince Andrey Kurbsky. During the reign of Ivan the Terrible, Andrey Kurbsky took part in all major battles of Muscovy. Throughout the siege of Kazan Kurbsky had to fight not only with the defenders of the city but also with the unbent, unbowed, rebellious Cheremisa – the Finno-Ugric people of the northern parts of Kazan Khanate. The ambiguity and inconsistency of preserved sources call into doubts Kurbsky’s key role in these clashes. This article shows the differences in the sources concerning the events of the end of August 1552, and tries to find the truth about the famous Andrey Kurbsky and his life as a warrior.
