Popis | Thanks to numerous immigrants moving to Montreal, the city has become very favorable to a meeting of cultures and individuals among which many artists of Jewish origin. Those who seek to integrate into the new society go through an often painful journey complicated by the feeling of loneliness, the effort to belong to the community, the desire for love and fulfillment, as well as the dark past common to the entire Jewish world of Eastern Europe. All these features are present in two Montreal novels: Régine Robin’s La Québécoite and Naim Kattan’s La Célébration. Two facets of sadness will be analysed: melancholy and nostalgia. |
