| Popis | The study outlines the impact epidemics have had on Czech art from the Middle Ages until today. A major part of the text deals with the Black Death which fundamentally affect the evolution of Czech medieval art, and manifested itself in Baroque art as well. The study further presents topics that were raised in response to the epidemic: Dance of Death/Skeleton Dance, Triumph of Dead and Vanitas. Finally, it also presents artistic reflections of other epidemics: cholera, typhoid, tuberculosis and COVID 19. |
