| Popis | The lecture deals with the author Jakob Julius David. Born in 1859 in Mährisch Weißkirchen (today: Hranice na Moravě, Czech Republic), David, after studying German and History, lived in Vienna since 1877, where he worked as a writer, tutor, and journalist (among others Neues Wiener Journal). He wrote his own volume on "Die Zeitung" for the series "Die Gesellschaft" edited by Martin Buber. In this essay, David analyzes and criticizes modern newspaper journalism. Against the background of this essay, David's short story "Das königliche Spiel" reveals strategies of specifically journalistic-literary writing. |
