Popis | Cicero uses many metaphors as intentional instruments to persuade the audience about his ideas or political proposals. We can observe that Cicero uses almost always the strongest possible tools to reach his aims. Depicting various persons as both, folk devils and public gods, belongs to this strategy. The aim of the presentation was to show, how modern research on the field of framing metaphors applied to Cicero’s collocations brings more clarity to the question, whether Cicero influenced the audience behind the limits of legitimate persuasion, infusing decision by use of particular allocutions. The compared frames were two, which were proven as highly influential in modern research: 1. beasts; 2. illnesses. |
