Popis In the toolbox of neuropsychologists, some cognitive tests are noteworthy, like the one discussed here. The so-called “Chapman-Cook speed of reading test” is supposed to measure the comprehension speed of healthy individuals but can also be proposed to patients with various cognitive disorders. Since the test consists of a series of short nonsense stories, it thus may be of interest to linguists and semanticists familiar with the construction of nonsense. In this article, we will seek, through a detailed analysis of the stories, to evaluate the relevance of the procedure implemented in this test and to provide a strictly linguistic counter-view.
