| Popis | The Vatican Secretariat of State and the Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed the extension of the existing provisional agreement. The Vatican is backing down, allowing the Chinese side to appoint bishops while retaining its veto. In doing so, it hopes that this will lead to an improvement in the situation of Catholics in China, but this is not happening; on the contrary, in the last two years we have seen much greater restrictions and suppression of religious freedoms. |
