Popis The work of architect Josef Místecký exemplifies the transmission of modern architectural ideas beyond the main urban centres. After studying at the Academy of Arts in Prague, he returned to Valašské Meziříčí, his hometown, where he taught at a vocational woodworking school and worked as a freelance architect. During the interwar era, Místecký designed and constructed two distinct houses for himself and his family. The first (1926-7) is a modern yet traditional villa near the town centre, while the second (1936) is a white avant-garde box with slightly distorted proportions in the woods close to the town. Inspired by Místecký´s award-winning entry in the Minimal Detached House competition and Le Corbusier´s residential architecture, the design process is well-documented through the architect´s sketches and project iterations. These archive materials reveal the evolution from intention to realisation, highlighting the differences between the envisioned and actualised outcome.
