Popis | Female directors of traveling theatre companies have been largely overlooked in scholarly research. This article aims to bring a new perspective on the position of women in 19thcentury society within the cultural field. What was the life of a female leader of a traveling theatre company like in the 19th century? This question is explored through the example of Eliška Zöllnerová, the director of a Czech traveling theatre company in the latter half of the 19th century, who mentored a generation of actors. The focus is primarily on how Eliška Zöllnerová managed her company, examining its daily operations through the lens of the history of everyday life. This approach has not yet been applied to Czech traveling theatre companies, despite the abundance of sources on Eliška Zöllnerová’s company that invite such investigation. |
