Popis In this lecture, I talked about Buddhism in the corpus of Mongolian riddles, as drawn from three collections: Mongol ardin onisogo tavaar [Enigmas and Puzzles of Mongolia] by G. Lovor a C. Ölziikhutag, Tümen onisogo [Ten Thousand Riddles] Vols. I. a II. by C. Ölziikhutag, a Ordos aman zoxiolin comirlog (Textes Oraux Ordos) [Oral Texts of Ordos] by A. Mostaert. I described my research of Buddhism in Mongolian riddles from various aspects, including the examination of loanwords and ‘eroded’ loanwords from Tibetan, Chinese and Sanskrit. I also discussed the fragments of Buddhist legends to be found in the riddles, the visualization of the perception of the world and the cosmos from the viewpoint of Buddhism, as well as the connection between the sacred and the profane in a nomadic setting.
