| Popis | The complexity of Guimaraes Rosas work has led the critics to oscillate between two poles. While some critics have tried to reconstruct the historical and social reality which Rosa drew on, others have emphasized its metaphysical dimension. The article attempts to harmonize, to a certain degree, both positions. Perceiving narrative fiction in line with Paul Ricoeurs theory as Ťimanent transcendencyť in which the mimetic function is analogical to metaphorical reference, the article approaches the question of the referential value of the authors work through the analysis of the problem of time in three selected stories from Primeiras Estórias: A terceria margem do rio, O espelho and Nenhum nenhuma. |
