Kazakh National University Visiting Scholars
Al-Farabi Kazakh national university (Kaznu) is the leading institution of the system of higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and one of the top university of central Asia. The university will celebrate 85 years anniversary in 2019.
Al-Farabi Kaznu has 15 schools that offer 82 BA, 102 MA and 63 Ph.D. wide range programs in engineering, natural sciences, humanitarian and social sciences, medical sciences and economics.
In addition, Al-Farabi Kaznu covers a wide spectrum of fundamental and applied research, which are based at 8 research institutes, 25 centers, 2 national level labs and regional technopark.
We aim to enter the global educational, scientific space and consider international cooperation and internationalization of activities to be one of the most important directions of our development. Engagement of foreign scientists and teachers for research activities is an important feature of the expanding international scientific and educational relations of the university.
Foreign scientists and professors have the opportunity to participate in scientific research in cooperation with the leading scientists of Kaznu in the following fields: life sciences, social and human sciences.
Al-Farabi Kaznu welcomes scholars of:

We offer two options:
- The position of associate professor and professor for a period of one year or more;
- The position of a researcher in research institutes for a period of one year or more;
Essential duties of the invited scientists include:
- Collaborative work on conduction of joint research with the scientists of Kaznu;
- Publication of joint articles in cooperation with Kaznu scientists in journals with high impact factor / SRJ, indexed by international databases web of science / scopus;
- Please also take note that Al-Farabi Kaznu is making a bonus payment (500 – 1,500 USD per publication) for the articles / scientific manuscripts indexed by Scopus. The amount of payment depends on the rating of the journal (e.g. publications in “science” or “nature” journals are awarded in the amount of 3,000 USD).
- Preparation of applications needed to participate in international contests for the financing of scientific projects. There must be at least one project with funding from international funds and organizations during the year.
Social package and expenses:
- Monthly salary amounts to 1,400-2,000 USD, depending on qualification and plan of research activity of the applying professor;
- Accommodation is to be provided by the guest house of the university campus;
- Expenses on round-trip airfare to be defrayed;
- Minimum cost of the research to be refunded;
Other conditions of employment to be discussed with each applicant individually.
