| Popis | This paper explores the internal syntax and semantics of complex numerals involving additive markers in Czech and (colloquial) Farsi. The two examined languages offer valuable insights that can further extend the typology of additive numerals, which arises as a result of the combination of parameters such (i) overt/covert additive marker, (ii) the nature of the additive marker (e.g., conjunction, comitative marker) and (iii) (non-)occurrence of numeral classifiers. Building on the previous literature on the topic (e.g., Ionin & Matushansky 2006), I explore the two strategies of expressing the relationship between arithmetical addition and mereological sum formation and propose an analysis that attempts to spellout out explicitly ontological assumptions concerning the structure of numbers in natural language. |
