My name is Zuzana Blahová and I am a student of Norwegian language and Literature for the second year now. I am interested in literature and history. I applied for the project because I wanted to learn more about Czech-Norwegian cooperation during World War II. I was intrigued by the fate of Czechoslovak Jews who, thanks to the organization Nansenhjelpen, got to Norway. So I chose the character of Odd Nansen for my project.

By participating in the project, we will have the opportunity to look into Norwegian archives, improve our language skills and, of course, learn more about Norway during World War II.

Odd Nansen continued his father Fridtjof Nansen's footsteps and helped refugees get asylum in Norway. Among the rescued were also people from Czechoslovakia, such as psychiatrist Leo Eitinger and architect Otto Eisler. I chose him because I think he was an important character and did great things. He showed that humanity had not died out at a time that was very dark. He gave people hope for a better life.
