Recognition of Foreign Education

Bachelor´s studies are open to those who have completed their secondary school studies.
Master´s studies are open to those who have completed their Bachelor´s studies.
Ph.D. studies are open to those who have completed their Master´s studies.

Students who have earned their higher education abroad need to recognize it. 

For recognition of your education you will need:

  • High school diploma/BA diploma/MA diploma
  • Apostille/Super-legalization of your High school diploma/BA diploma/MA diploma in case you need it (more can be found here: https://www.muni.cz/en/admissions/recognition/means-of-authentication)
  • Confirmation of accreditation of your high school (apply only to applicants to our BA study programs)
  • Diploma supplement/Transcript (apply only to applicants to our MA and Ph.D. programs)

Above mentioned does not apply to students who have completed their education in Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Slovenia thanks to bilateral agreements on mutual recognition of educational qualifications.

This recognition does not substitute so-called nostrification and is valid only for the specific program and specific application term.

Steps

  1. Fill in your online application until the deadline for your chosen semester (Spring semester starting in February, Fall semester starting in September) and upload all the relevant documents. FAQ about the online application.
  2. Pay the application fee (1,000 CZK). Find out the deadline for payments and other FAQ about the application.
  3. The responsible department will assess your application and the documents you submitted. You do not have to come to Brno to take an entrance exam; your application will be reviewed on the basis of the documents you supplied.
  4. We will notify you about the result of the admission process via e-mail by May 15 (for Fall semester) or November 15 (for Spring semester) at the latest.

What to do if I’ve been accepted?

  1. You will receive Confirmation of acceptance/Letter of acceptance (via e-mail).
  2. You will be asked to pay the tuition fee (via online link).
  3. You will be asked to supply documents about your previous education (via e-mail):
  4. After you have provided a document confirming that you paid the tuition and proof that you have started the recognition/nostrification process, we will send you all the necessary documentation for your visa application.
  5. Apply for visa, contact the embassy in your country.

    File your application until the deadline for your chosen semester (Spring semester starting in February, Fall semester starting in September) and upload all the relevant documents so that the department can assess your application.

    You do not have to come to Brno personally to take the entrance exam. The result of the admission process depends on the quality of the documents that you provide. Those will be assessed by the admission committee and you will be notified about the results via e-mail.

  • First two weeks in May // November

    Assessment of your application

    The responsible department will assess your application and the documents you uploaded with it. You do not have to come to Brno to take an entrance exam; your application will be reviewed on the basis of the documents you submitted.

  • By the end of May // November

    Results

    We will notify you about the result of the admission process via e-mail by the end of May (for Fall semester) or by the end of November (for Spring semester) at the latest.

  • After you’ve been accepted

    What to do now?

    4. You will be sent your visa documents.

  • Before arrival to Brno

    1. You will get your login and password to our accommodation system in order to apply for student dorms.
    2. Register for Orientation Week.
    3. You will be asked to sign a contract with the Faculty of Arts (contract proposal will be sent via e-mail).
    4. Order your ISIC (you will get a link via e-mail).
  • After arrival

    Arrive to Brno (see how to get to Brno) and move in to your student dorms (see here).

  • September // February

    On the day of your enrollment

    Please be sure to bring the following items with you:

    Bachelor:

    1. Your passport
    2. Certified/notarized copy of your high school diploma 
    3. Apostille/Super-legalization of your high school diploma in case you need it (more can be found here).

    Official translation to Czech or English is necessary for all the documents issued in any other language than Czech (Slovak) or English.
