Inalienability of fundamental rights: can we give up fundamental rights?

In the lecture, the question of understanding the concept of inalienability of fundamental rights will be posed using concrete examples from the case law of Czech and foreign courts. Does this inalienability mean the (mere) possibility of an individual disposing of them, or does it imply room for state restriction?
Doc. JUDr. Vojtěch Šimíček, PhD, is an associate professor at the Department of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University and is currently also a vice-chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic. His approaches include overlaps from constitutional law to political science and philosophy of law. Since 2022 he has been a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University.
