The fundamental part of the proposed project is an analysis or changes in healthcare and position of physicians in Moravia in the period of 1939-1945. It is going to describe Nazi influence on social and working conditions of physicians. The main stress will be put on the gradual destruction of peacetime system of healthcare and the reconstruction of healthcare during the Protectorate period in the spirit of Nazi ideology. Our research will concentrate on full appraisal not only of the specific role of physicians in these changes, but it will try to cover everyday life and work of physicians and the differentiation in their attitudes as well. Special attention will be given to the activities of physicians within resistance groups, to the specific forms of their resistance and to the leading figures of the physician generation of that time.
