The proposed project is focused on the psychological aspects of in-service teacher education and training. We come out of the assumption that not only political, economical, educational or organisational circumstances play an important role here. Also, psychological aspects of in-service teacher education and training seem to be influential (attitudes of teachers, their expectations, fears, needs, openess to experience and to change etc.). The aim of the project is to find out what are the psychological aspects of the teaching profession that can influence processes of in-service education and training in relation to specific forms of in-service education and training, and also in relation to specific stages of teachers´ careers. We intent to get these findings by using a set of qantitative and qualitative methods. Among them the prominent role should play the study of relevant literature and documents, questionnaire survey, individual and group interviews, case studies and action research. Results of the project should expecially offer the answer to the question what psychological factor have significant influence on the process of in-service teacher education and training in its specific forms and in specific phases of teacher career development. This should also become a source for recommendations directed to the organisation, content and methodology of in-service teacher education an training in the Czech Republic.
