The project Czech and Slovak democracy after the year 1989 concerns with the issue of evolution and present-day form of political systems of the Czech republic and Slovakia since 1989. It seeks with the use of modern politological approaches, particularly theories of democracy transition and consolidatin, models of modern democracies (westminster and consensual, pluralistic and neo-corporativistic, a theory of polyarchy) and party systems typologies (primarily typology of G. Sartori and J. Blondel) to clarify and analyze changes of political systems of these two new close democracies and to provide their comparison in post-communist middle and east Europe broader perspective.The main output will be a book case-study for either of countries. These book case-studies will be analogical in basic features: description of political evolution since 1989 (including excursus concerning the common state existence impact on both of these countries in the beginning of the 90s of the 20 centrury), picture of the basic political institutions (in context of the above mentioned politological theories) and changes of political system. The partial output will be publishing of several shorter texts. A part of the project will be also a realization of two courses in bachelor´s studies of political science at the Department of Political Science at School of Social Studies Masaryk University (one concerning the czech politics since 1989, other the slovak politics since 1989).
