This project, proposed by the Institute of Musicology in the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, and the Music History Department of the Moravian Museum, presents the first stage of long-term frame project dedicated to the complete critical edition of Leoš Janáček’s correspondence. This actual stage focuses on processing the correspondence deposited In the Janáček Archive of Moravian Museum’s Music History Department. This collection comprises of some 15.000 items and represents more than 90% of detected Janáček’s correspondence. Co-operation on the project was also promised by the Leoš Janáček Foundation. The group of cooperators editors will include not only experienced specialists, but also postgraduate and Ph.D. students of musicology. This final stage of the frame project will result In processing the above mentioned collection In the form of a database. Its continuously updated and easily corrigible electronic form will serve researchers and other individuals via the internet. In the beginning the unified edition policy will be formulated and a convenient database software will ho created. The whole frame project will last for approximately 10- 12 years.
