The year 1989 has often been referred to as a distinctive landmark in the history of literature. Its importance has been especially found in the metamorphosis of literary life related to the downfall of the Communist regime. This work, however, tries to explore the metamorphosis of literature as such: find out which expectations were created by Novemer 89. Therefore, the work´s attention will be focused on the youngest poetic generation which entered into literature soon after November 89 and whose beginnings were not any longer directly affected by the Communist regime. The core constists in exploring the literary context in which this generation appears, and the critical response these authors receive. In this sense, their evolution goes hand in hand with the evolution of literary criticism, another area feeling obliged to formulate once again its foundations in the early 1990s. The analysis of these discussions, polemics and manifestos makes the focus of this work. The conclusion presents the generation´s typology and its possible development in future.
