The goal of the proposal now submitted is to obtain financial support for the continuation of work on the digital hymnological catalogue "Melodiarium hymnologicum Bohemiae", which originated, and is being developed further, at the Department of Musicology of the Arts Faculty of the Masaryk University in Brno, with the financial support of GAČR (registration number 408/06/0816) for the period 2009 - 2011. The result of the current effort is the creation of a functional catalogization system based on a unique principle "htah" which has not heretofore been applied in the field of hymnology, one which allows the researcher direct contact with the digital form of the study material. The
catalogue is accessible at the address: www.firmadat.cz/melodiarium.
The growing catalogue database covers the repertoire of Czech, Latin and German hymns and now includes of approximately 1 300 melodies and 3 300 texts contained in manuscripts and main printed sources of the fifteenth century and of the sixteenth. The three-year support of the GAČR would allow us to expand the catalogue to include the repertoire contained in further significant sources of the 16th century and to extend it towards including the 17th century repertoire.
