hydrometeorological extremes, analysis of extremes and their impacts, economic sources, southern Moravia

Hydrometeorological extremes (windstorms, hailstorms, floods, torrential rains, early and late frosts) are analysed for the region of southern Moravia in the 17th - 20th centuries. The information about these extremes, their intensity and impacts are gathered from tax abatement requests, resulting from caused damage, and from reports of administrators of domains and estates to their owners. The findings about detected extremes are confronted in the perspective of frequency, intensity, seasonality and impacts with their analysis based on systematic meteorological observations from stations of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute and in the context of expected changes of extreme events due to contemporary global warming.
