The project focuses on the research of stage technology in German theatres. It is intended to supplement and modify the information on the stage mechanics of the Janáček Opera in Brno. The project will take place at the Leipzig Opera House, the theatre in Halle or Weimar and the Berlin Opera House. Their common denominator is the person of stage technician Kurt Hemmerling, whose designs for stage technology formed the basis for Brno's Janáček Theatre.

By comparing the project documentation of the individual theatres, I intend to arrive at prototype designs for the sets, which Kurt Hemmerling also used in the case of the Brno theatre. Since I am also exploring theatre technologies against the background of active participation in performance, part of the research involves visiting selected performances in the above-mentioned theatres.
