At the end of the 90s, several analytical monographs were published describing the situation of the Czech society. A number of works has been published in "transitology". One of the first works in this respect was my study (Možný 1991) dealing with laten t processes in the society under the previous regime which prepared the ground for change by applying a growing pressure towards a transformation of the system based on a social capital to one based on economic capital. The study was published in 1991 an d became the most frequently quoted sociological study of the 90s. For the year 2001, I am preparing a study summarizing the development in the past decade on farther developments and peripheties in this trend, including an analysis of latent disbalances preparing the situation for another change. In view of the progress made to date, I assume that the manuscript would be submitted to the publisher in mid-2001 and published by the end of the year.
