| Description | The study based on positive psychology thematic area deals with the relation of character strengths and life satisfaction (Peterson, Seligman, 2004; Linley a kol., 2010). The main aim was to examine the structure of character strengths in different professions and find the relationship between use of character strengths and life satisfaction. The secondary objective was to determine the degree of stability of character strengths that were measured cross-sectionally in professionals and students. The research sample consisted of 240 respondents divided into three groups (80 people working at forces, 80 from medical area and 80 from educational area). We used the Signature Strengths Test (Seligman, 2011), the Strengths Use Scale (Linley et al., 2010) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (Diener et al., 1985). Cronbach's alfa was calculated to prove reliability of the methods. The data were analyzed using correlation and regression analysis. The results show differences in structure of character strengths and level of life satisfaction in different professions. We also found positive significant correlation between using character strengths and life satisfaction. Testing the stability of character strengths (measured in professionals and students of the profession) indicates their variability in time. |
