| Description | On several examples the author demonstrates the evolution of the essay from its kernel, classical form with Michel Montaigne up to the ambivalence of its genre form and its disintegration in modernist and postmodernist discourse and application. He accentuates the necessity of the renewal of the genre boundaries of the essay and the strengthening of its function in the system of similar genre groupings. |
