Description In my paper I deal with the analogy between the construction of scientific and moral theories as seen by non-reductive naturalists. The key thesis of non-reductive naturalism is that it is possible to postulate the existence of objective moral properties in ethics in the same manner as it is possible to postulate unobservable entities in science (elementary particles, forces, laws). The assessment of the analogy requires to analyze a number of criteria for the postulation of unobservable entities and assess their acceptability. It is also necessary to determine whether moral facts meet the criteria, especially the requirement to be able to explain our moral observations.
