Description The study is devoted to ceiling paintings in the Doudleby nad Orlicí chateau, possibly by an artist of Italian origin, commissioned in the 1690s by František Adam of Bubno and Litice, an imperial councillor and secretary. The article centres upon mythological subjects, especially the determination of the iconography on the basis of the identification of the majority of graphic templates. An overview of these graphic inspirations has revealed prevailing French models, confirming the fact that the genre of French court painting grew in popularity in the second half of the 17th century. Thanks to the determination of the individual sections it was possible to visualize the entire iconographic concept of the paintings, or at least some ideological lines in the decoration that might reflect the customer's background and preferences.
