Description The author of the present study deals with the two books by Frank Wollman going back to the 1930s – The Literature of the Slavs (1928, German translation Die Literatur der Slawen, 2003, new Czech edition 2012) and On the Methodology of the Comparative Slavonic Literatures (1936) demonstrating them as crucial books anticipating some of contemporary developments in the sense of a wide, open synthesis of different science and methodologies. His koncept of eidology was more flexible than some of the early concepts of formalists and structuralistst overcoming the boundaries of immannent approaches.
