Description The author of the present study deals with the conception of comparative Slavonic literatures in the work of the Czech slavist Jiří Horák, professor of Masaryk and Charles Universities. On the example of three of his studies he demonstrates not only the traditional positivist sources of his conception, but also his empathy towards ethics and religion and the transcendence of the traditional philological discipline towards the social and topical political level.
