Description The paper deals with the different historical development of Czech and Russian languages and reasons of the high use of common language in Czech speech. Common Czech is compared with non-standard elements of Russian language, namely with Interslang and Colloquialism (prostorechie). The examples of Russian fiction demonstrate the difference between Russian Interslang and Colloquialism (prostorechie). It points out the necessity to distinguish these two different non-standard language codes when translating.
