Description Diffuse coplanar surface barrier discharge (DCSBD) and volume diffuse barrier discharge (VDBD) were used for continuous treatment of polypropylene yarn used for concrete reinforcement. The improvement of hydrophilicity and aging of effect was assessed via Washburn wicking test. The Washburn test is described in detail. Plasma treatment was able to reduce water contact angle from initial 86 deg to 46 deg, which is comparable to the value of 42 deg of commercial chemically treated samples. Saturation value of 75 deg was reached after 20 days of plasma treatment aging. The hydrophilization effect of investigated VDBD was slightly better than that of investigated DCSBD.
